Cranage

Cranage

The first indication to navigators that they are approaching Saul Junction on the Gloucester to Sharpness canal is our tower crane which is a familiar land mark to boaters and other visitors. We recently learned that the RAF use it as a marker during their low level flying exercises. The crane is a Potain fixed tower crane with a radius of 120 feet and a capacity of 10 tonnes. Although used daily in our boat building operations the crane is also invaluable for the craning in and out of cruisers and small narrowboats and the removal and refitting of engines, machinery and masts.
